주택임대차보호법 논란… 기둥 뒤에도 ‘국민’ 있어요
꽤나 오래 전 한 온라인 커뮤니티를 뜨겁게 달군 사진 한 장이 있다. 기둥 2개 사이에 있는 2개의 주차공간에서 2대의 차량을 양쪽 기둥에 바짝 붙여 주차해놓은 사진이다. 이를 두고 오른쪽 차량 운전자가 좁은 공간에서 어떻게 내렸는지 갑론을박이 붙었다. 갑론을박이라고는 했지만 사실 기둥 뒤 빈 공간을 통해 문을 열고 내릴 수 있음을 다수의 네티즌이 알면서도 모르는 척하며 우스꽝스러운 댓글을 달고 놀던 문화현상이었다. 흔히 ‘임대차 3법’(계약갱신요구권, 임대료인상률 제한, 전월세신고제)이라고 불리는 제도를 일부 담고 있는 「주택임대차보호법」의 몇몇 조항을 폐지하거나 보완해야 한다는 이야기가 있다. 「주택임대차보호법」에 대한 여러 입장과 의견을 보며 조금은 덜 주목받는 법 개정 이면의 그림자가 눈에 밟혔고 ‘기둥 뒤에 공간 있어요’ 사진이 생각났다. <그림> 기둥 뒤에 공간 있어요 (출처 : 오늘의유머) 첫 번째 그림자, 다양한 월세 세입자 이야기 「주택임대차보호법」의 계약갱신요구권 조항에 비판적인 사람들은 [...]

찐친시대의 ‘우리 집’ 마련
뒤늦게 넷플릭스를 통해 청춘시대라는 드라마를 보았다. 5명의 대학생이 공동거주하며 겪는 우정과 사랑, 나아가 데이트폭력과 아동 성폭력 같은 사회문제에 이들이 연대하여 극복하는 이야기를 다루고 있었다. 생각해보면 남자 셋 여자 셋, 응답하라 시리즈 등등 한 집이나 한 동네에 거주하는 등장인물들이 알콩달콩 관계 맺고 여러 사건에 대응하는 공동체 이야기는 드라마의 단골 소재이다. 칼 같은 각자도생의 현대사회에서 ‘저런 게 어딨어’ 싶지만 가족, 찐친(진짜 친구; 절친, 베스트 프렌드)과 각자 나름의 친밀관계를 만들며 살아가는 우리 삶을 생각하면 또 어딘가 그런 집과 동네가 있지 않을까 궁금하다. 잼에서 아이돌봄에 이르기까지 궁금증에 찾다 보니 마트에서 볼 수 있는 복음자리 잼이 마을 공동체와 얽힌 음식이라고 한다. 70~80년대 서울에서 내몰린 판자촌 철거민들이 힘겹게 시흥시 신천동으로 이주해 복음자리 마을을 만들어 살았고, 이들이 생계를 위해 만들어 판 것이 복음자리 잼의 시작이란다. 재개발로 복음자리 [...]
