On the 7th of July, the Housing Europe Observatory published its latest research report – Delivery on Housing in Ireland. The report was commissioned by Barry Andrews, MEP for the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament.

After the 4th edition of the International Social Housing Festival, we can confidently say that ISHF has a bright future, becoming not just a celebration of housing models that deliver, a protest to house our society in dignity but also a movement with increasingly committed social and affordable housing providers, policymakers, urbanists, architects, activists, and researchers.

The International Social Housing Festival (ISHF) was held in Barcelona from 7-9 June 2023. With over 2,100 participants from 82 countries, it brought together organisations and individuals to debate how established and recent housing systems are facing similar challenges. 200 organisations were involved in management of 30 side events, 25 visits to public and cooperative housing, running 20 stands and 6 exhibitions, all spread across 8 venues in Barcelona. Mayor Ada Colau made an opening speech emphasizing the importance of social housing for society, while Bent Madsen, President of Housing Europe, emphasized the need to nurture, preserve and co-create the network. The Festival acts as a knowledge platform to debate housing solutions, a platform to create partnerships, and to change the public narrative. A 60-page report has been compiled, offering a visual look back at the event.

Every first Saturday of July means the same thing: marking the occasion for the International Day of Cooperatives! This 1st of July, Housing Europe participated to the celebrations by putting into the spotlight its cooperative members.
